Description
Documentary on the crash of the Polish government aircraft on April
10, 2010 near the Russian Smolensk airport. The plane was on its way to
attend ceremonies commemorating one of the greatest traumas in Polish
history: the killings at Katyn. There, in 1940, over 20,000 Poles were
killed by the Russian secret service. A more dramatic concurrence of
circumstances is hardly imaginable. Poland was overcome with grief, but
also with fear and suspicion towards the still threatening and dangerous
bear: Russia. The catastrophe of Smolensk demonstrates the paper-thin
sense of security of the Poles, despite being embedded in "greater
Europe".
