Description

In north-east Thailand, in a small village, the economy changed when instead of growing rice, some local young women decided to not live life as a farmer with a Thai man, but pursue a marriage with a rich westerner.
Via a contact person in the village, who helps girls post on online dating websites, some women search for a husband abroad via the internet. Other girls however, end up as bar-girls in Bangkok, where they work as prostitutes in an attempt to find the right husband.
The village even has an annual contest for 'the best foreign husband',  motivating other girls to pursue this goal.
