Developing a taste for debauchery at an early age, he committed incest with all his sisters, held wildly extravagant gladiatorial contests and ordered executions and tortures to be performed as slowly as possible. As insanity took over, he purged the Senate, turned against his military allies and watched the empire drift into bankruptcy before being stabbed to death in AD 41.
