Description

The life of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, the 16th-century European aristocrat who inspired the Hammer horror film Countess Dracula. A sexually precocious youngster, she cultivated an interest in the occult and reputedly came to believe that a regular supply of virgin's blood would preserve her legendary beauty, devising ever more cruel means to finish off her victims before her eccentric family finally called a halt to the carnage. She was charged with the torture and murder of more than 650 women and ended her days in solitary confinement in 1614.
