Description

Kenneth Branagh recalls the events of 1918, when Allied troops finally overran the Hindenburg line, setting in motion a chain of events which saw the Kaiser go into exile and paving the way for Germany's final surrender. Recently colourised newsreel footage depicts public elation as the Armistice was declared and peace returned to Europe - at least temporarily.
