This documentary explores the remarkable life of iconic country music star Johnny Cash, who passed away in 2003 shortly after finalizing the five-CD collection “Unearthed.” This compilation of acoustic recordings marked a significant revival in his career during his last decade and came after the loss of his beloved wife, June Carter Cash.

The documentary, which is the first comprehensive look at Cash’s life, music, and legacy, includes insights from his daughter Rosanne Cash, son John Carter Cash, longtime manager Lou Robin, and notable musicians like Little Richard, Cowboy Jack Clement, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, and Elvis Costello.

Born to a poor sharecropping family in Kingsland, Arkansas, Cash found solace and expression in folk, spiritual, and country music while working in the cotton fields. In the 1950s, he signed with Sun Records under Sam Phillips, quickly achieving his first hits and becoming a part of the legendary “Million Dollar Quartet” alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins.
