This documentary challenges the Israeli establishment’s stance that all criticism of its policies amounts to anti-Semitism. In 1977, the renowned journalist and filmmaker John Pilger created “Palestine Is Still The Issue,” highlighting how nearly a million Palestinians were displaced in 1948 and again in 1967. Pilger revisits the West Bank, Gaza, and Israel to investigate why Palestinians, whose right of return was recognized by the United Nations over fifty years ago, remain in a state of limbo, living as refugees in their own land under the longest military occupation in modern history.

Pilger emphasizes that the plight of the Palestinians is crucial not only for the recognition of their fundamental human rights but also for regional and global peace. He points out that Israel, now one of the world’s largest military powers, continues to exacerbate the dangers. This documentary portrays a resilient nation of people who have endured trauma and humiliation. Despite having no army, air force, or powerful allies, they have fought to reclaim a fraction of historic Palestine with minimal resources, including slingshots and, more recently, suicide bombings.
